Photo Essay: People on Cell phones

I took most of these photos with my camera on my stomach, so as not to alarm them and so I could get the most candid shot possible. The first three from the top are all how I composed the image. The last three were taken with my eye in the viewfinder. I took these images to show how "cell phone" dependent all of us are, and even though it is a technological breakthrough and we can talk to anyone in the world 24/7(for an extremely expensive price) I believe it shows that we've lost some of the sentimental value that we obtain with physical interaction with one another, further isolating us from the rest of the world. Since 80% of communication is nonverbal, it seems like we're missing out on quite a lot.

  2. I think if you wouldve used all black and white it wouldve been beter, but besides that i like your idea of showing how people use thier cell phones these days. my favorite one is the first, catches someone drinking their morning coffe with the cellular in use.

  3. I like the concept of this photo essay. The only criticism I could give is to the only photo in color. Not only do I think that it would be better in black and white, I also suggest you crop the picture in a way that brings more attention to the girl on the phone. It's kind of hard to tell whether the subject of the image is the group of people in the middle, the trees, the columns, or the girl in the red.
